9th MEMORIAL FEAST OF H.G. STEPHANOS MAR THEODOSIUS OF BLESSED MEMORY
Spirit of reverence and enthusiasm of multitude of believers and local people marked the 9th Dukhrono Perunal of His Grace Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius of Blessed memory, the first Metropolitan of the Dioceses of Chennai and Calcutta and the founder Director of St. Thomas Mission Bhilai.
H.G Dr. Yakob Mar Irenaios Metropolitan (Kochi Diocese) was the chief celebrant along with H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan for the Perunal held on 4th and 5th of November at St. Thomas Mission Chapel Bhilai.

MAR THEODOSIUS AWARD CONFERRED UPON PADMA SHRI DR. PRAKASH AMTE
Mar Theodosius Award was constituted in 2014 to commemorate His Grace Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius of Blessed memory, the first Metropolitan of the Dioceses of Chennai and Calcutta and the founder Director of St. Thomas Mission Bhilai. The Biennial Award aims at recognizing those esteemed individuals who have commendably contributed in the field of Education, Social Service and Human rights, as Metropolitan Mar Theodosius’ sacrificial life was spend to uplift the poor and downtrodden through Education and Service upholding their Rights.
Mar Theodosius Award was bestowed upon Dr. Amte on 4th November, 2016 by H.G Dr. Yakob Mar Irenaios Metropolitan and H.G.Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan during the 44th Annual Day of St. Thomas Mission at Bhilai.The Award was presented in recognition of Dr. Amte’s outstanding contribution and commitment to the poor and downtrodden with his selfless, passionate, tenacious and exemplary service.

Ashakiran project run by St. Thomas Mission Bhilai also has Tailoring training for the women folk of the colony. The opening ceremony was attended by Fr. Kurian John ( Mission Secretray), Fr. Dr. Prakash Baba Amte (son of Magsaysay awardee Baba Amte) and his wife, Dr. Mandakini Amte were awarded the Magsaysay Award for ‘Community Leadership’ in 2008 for their philanthropic work in the form of the Lok Biradari Prakalp amongst the Madia Gonds in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra and the neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Charity projects launched to mark the Shastipoorthi of Metropolitan H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius
Bhilai: A splendid and solemn ceremony at M.G.M. Senior Secondary School, Bhilai marked the Shastipoorthi of H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, the Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese and Director of St. Thomas Mission Bhilai. Humanitarian projects such as Home for homeless, sick aid, educational aid and marriage aid worth rupees sixty lakhs are instituted as part of Shastipoorthi. One homeless family was blessed with a home as Shri. Vidhyaratan Bhasin, MLA gave the keys of the house to the head of that family. Four more houses shall be donated as part of the yearlong programme. Marriage aid for a girl was presented by Shri Tamradwaj Sahu M.P. A book about the contributions of Mar Dionysius was released by Shri Kodikunnil Suresh M.P. St. Thomas Archives which is meant to show case the history of the Diocese and Mission was also inaugurated .
The Shastipoorthi celebrations had a grand take off with the welcome dance of MGM School students. Shri. Prem Prakash Pandey, Honorable Minister for higher and technical education charmed the occasion as Chief Guest. C.G State. Rt. Rev. Robert Ali, Bishop of Chhattisgarh Diocese of CNI delivered the blessing address. Former central minister Shri Kodikunnil Suresh M.P., Shri Tamradwaj Sahu M.P., Shri. Vidhyaratan Bhasin, MLA and Shri Devendra Yadav , Mayor of Bhilai graced the occasion as guests of honour.
Leaders of different cultutral and religious organizations like Kerala Samajam, YMCA, SNGS, Ayyappa, Sewa Sanghom, CCA and ECF and representatives of various Churches and institutions felicitated the Metropolitan.
H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan, who is also the Manager Bishop of M.G.M Group of institutions, expressed gratitude to one and all. Fr. Kurian John welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was proposed by Fr. M. J. Mathew. The programme ended with Catholicate anthem and National anthem after which all joined for the sumptuous love feast.
