ST. THOMAS COLLEGE STUDENTS EXCEL : SECURE GOLD MEDALS IN THE UNIVERSITY MERIT LIST
Bhilai: Meritorious students of St. Thomas College, Bhilai brought laurels to their college and steel city Bhilai by securing top slots in the merit list declared by Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur for the past academic year . Madhu Yadav of B. A. bagged gold medal. Hiteshwari Sinha and Ku. Yogita Verma of M.Sc Biotechnology secured 2nd and 3rd rank respectively. Monika Chandrakar of M.Com secured 9th rank, Priya Mishra B. C.A. secured 3rd rank and Deepa Goyal secured 9th rank in the merit list. From B.B.A. Miss Aditi Dixit secured 3rd rank, Miss Alka Sachdev 5th rank and Miss Disha Sachdev 8th rank respectively. In B.Sc Anjali Mishra and Kiran Suroshe secured 3rd and 5th ranks respectively. From B. Com, Miss Swati Prasad secured the 5th rank. From M.A. English Rinku Kar Sinha secured 2nd, Ishita Sharma 8th , Nitesh Choudhary 9th, and C.G. Akhila 10th ranks respectively and made the institution known for its academic excellence. In M.Sc. Computer Science Miss Neha Kumari secured 5th, Preeti Saini 7th and K. Sweta 10th rank respectively. The innovative Teaching Learning Process of the college has always helped the students to excel in the academics and secure prominent rank in the University Merit List. The College Management, Administrator Rev. Fr. George Mathew Ramban, Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon and all the staff members congratulated the students for their outstanding performance and wished them success in their future endeavors.

NEW SCHOOL INAUGURATED AT DHANPURI

H. G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius consecrated and blessed the newly built school at Gopalpur Road, Dhanpuri, Shahdol (dist.) on 18/03/2017. It was the long cherished dream of late lamented H.G. Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius to start another school at the small town of Shahdol district. Mar Dionysius, president of MGM Group of Schools took the initiative to fulfil the dream of his predecessor. His Grace lit the lamp and cut the ribbon, in his opening speech he prayed that the light of knowledge will spread all over the area through this temple of knowledge.
In the public meeting organised after the consecration ceremony Fr Giju George (Vice-president) welcomed all the distinguish guest and thanked all the invitees for their presence. He thanked all the Priests who contributed in the past for the development of the project. He also thanked the parish members and the school managing committee members for their contribution in different stages.
Mar Dionysius in his public speech highlighted the achievements of the mission schools established under the umbrella of St Thomas Mission, Bhilai. This Thirty fourth school of the Mission society will give the best education to the children of the society. He thanked vice- president and managing committee members for their contribution. In his speech Mar Dionysius applauded the teachers of MGM SCHOOL DHANPURI for their contribution to the development of the school. Fr Aju K Varghese (Treasurer, St Thomas Mission), Fr Varghese P Joshua (Bilaspur) Fr Robin Varghese (Marthoma church) along with parish members graced the occasion.
Early morning His Grace celebrated Holy Qurbana in our Mar Gregorious Orthodox Church, Dhanpuri. It was the historic day for the Calcutta diocese and St Thomas Mission.

MGM GROUP OF SCHOOLS CONDUCTS PRE-PRIMARY TEACHERS’ WORKSHOP
2 days workshop for Pre- Primary teachers was organised by MGM Group of Schools at CCET ( Christian College of Engineering and Technology) Bhilai. About 100 teachers from 18 schools attended the workshop led by Mrs. T. Raja Rajeswari , an eminent educationist and mentor. The sessions aimed at empowering the teachers with various education modules and strategies for effectively moulding the Pre Primary kids. The interactive sessions empowered the teachers to identify multiple intelligence, behavioural problems, learning readiness,interests and skills of the kids.
The participants who were from from MGM sr. Sec. School Bhilai, Mar Baselios Vidhya Bhavan Bhilai, MGM Public School Bhilai, MGM School Rajnandgaon, MGM HSS Raipur, MGM HSS Bilaspur, MGM HSS Korba, MGM School Kamilini, MGM HSS Jagdalpur, MGM School Ashoka Garden Bhopal, MGM HSS Bhopal, MGM HSS Itarsi, MGM HSS Dawakalan, MGM HSS Sarni, MGM HSS Dhanpuri MGM English School Rourkela, MGM School Chend and St. Mary’s Ranchi expressed much appreciation for the enriching sessions.

SIDDHARTHA BASU HOSTS INTER M.G.M. SCHOOL QUIZ
An Inter M.G.M. School Quiz “Know for Sure” by the renowned Quiz Master Mr. Siddhartha Basu which was held at M.G.M. Senior Secondary School, Sector-6, Bhilai on 16th December, 2016. The Quiz
organized by MGM Group of Schools under The Calcutta Diocesan Mission Education Board witnessed the participation of 18 teams from different M.G.M Schools of Madhya Prahesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Jharkhand. Out of this Six teams were selected for the final round after the preliminary written round.
The Quiz was exuberant, motivating and enlightening. It was aimed at developing the knowledge and excellence base among the students. There were seven highly different rounds for the Quiz. Each team put up a whole-hearted effort..
The winner of the exciting Quiz was M.G.M. Hr. Sec. School, Bokaro with 80 points. M.G.M. English School Rourkela was close with 75 points while M.G.M. Hr. Sec. School, Itarasi with 55 points became the second runner up. The winners were given cash prizes of Rs. 10,001/-, Rs. 7,001/-, and Rs. 5,001/- respectively as well as trophies, books and certificates. All the participants were given prizes and certificates. The enthusiastic audience also got prizes as the answered the questions asked by the energetic Mr. Basu . The Chief Guest of the Quiz Competition was Shri Amresh Mishra, Superintendent of Police, Durg. The Chief Guest and Quiz Master were honoured by presenting mementoes. The quiz was followed by a group song and mesmerizing classical dance

Thomas, MGMSSS Vice President, Mr. Rajan Mathew, MGMSSS Correspondent, Mr. Gilson Thomas, Mr. Roy Thomas, Mr. T. G. Manoj, Mr. Suresh Jacob, Mr. C. V. John and MGO Cathedral Committee Members, the Principals and teachers of the participating schools also attended the programme. All the guests were given a floral welcome by presenting bouquets followed by Mrs. Sujaya Kumari’s Welcome Speech. The programme came to a close with Vote of thanks proposed by Very Rev. George Mathew Ramban followed by National Anthem.
