Vimochan – Prison Ministry
Vimochan is a prison rehabilitation program. The prison ministry runs in the Durg Central Jail of Chathisgarh. With a vision of hope and renewal, Vimochan focuses on the holistic development of inmates—both men and women—through counselling, vocational training, and recreational activities.
The core objective of Vimochan is to equip inmates with practical skills and emotional support, enabling them to rebuild their lives and rejoin the mainstream of society with dignity and purpose. The project reaches out to over 600 inmates, offering free vocational training and certified skill development programs.
In the women’s section, tailoring training is provided using six sewing machines under the supervision of a skilled female trainer. In the men’s section, computer training is offered through computers donated by the St. Thomas Mission, helping inmates develop digital literacy and employable skills.
Dedicated trainers such as Mr. Balakrishna Rao play a key role in shaping the lives of these individuals, offering their time and expertise to support this noble cause.
Vimochan stands as a beacon of transformation within the prison system, offering second chances, skill-building, and hope to those seeking a better future.
