Bilaspur : A zonal workshop for educators was held on 14th April at Hotel Central Point International, Bilaspur, drawing enthusiastic participation from teachers of MGM schools across Bilaspur, Raipur, Balco, and nearby regions. The workshop was jointly hosted by MGM Higher Secondary School and MGM Public School, Bilaspur.
The workshop focused on critical themes in education today: National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), Holistic Progress Card (HPC), classroom management, and neurodiversity in schools, with special emphasis on autism inclusion.
NEP 2020, as discussed during the workshop, aims to redefine Indian education by promoting flexibility, multilingualism, and foundational literacy and numeracy. Teachers were encouraged to move away from rote learning and embrace experiential, inquiry-based learning, promoting creativity and conceptual understanding in students.
NCF, which serves as the roadmap to implementing NEP 2020, was explained as a dynamic framework guiding the design of syllabi, textbooks, and teaching methods. The NCF emphasizes competency-based education, integration of vocational subjects, and incorporation of Indian knowledge systems and values.
Holistic Progress Card (HPC) was another key highlight. Moving beyond academic scores, the HPC is a multi-dimensional assessment tool that captures a childโs development across cognitive, social, emotional, and physical domains. Educators were trained on how to implement HPC in their classrooms using anecdotal records, peer reviews, and self-assessments, thereby offering a 360-degree view of student progress.
Classroom Management strategies shared during the session included time management techniques, creating inclusive and safe learning environments, handling behavioral challenges positively, and maintaining student engagement. Teachers were encouraged to use reflective practices, student voice, and differentiated instruction to manage diverse classrooms effectively.
Resource persons Mr. P.K. Pandey and Ms. Kanika Bharti led highly engaging sessions and discussions, equipping teachers with tools to support all learners, especially those with special needs. The segment on neurodiversity provided crucial insights into identifying and supporting children with autism, and creating empathetic, inclusive classroom ecosystems.
The workshop concluded with educators expressing a sense of motivation and responsibility to apply these progressive ideas in their schools, echoing the spirit of NEP 2020โeducation for all, by all, and with all.
